Jesus Was Not a "Nice Man"

By looking at the title the first thing you might say is, "Blasphemy! You can't say that and be a Christian!" Actually, I can. And an even better Christian than I am wrote a small discourse on the subject from one of my favorite books. Actually, you might have heard of it. It's a short book called Mere Christianity (which I highly recommend). Here is the following quote from C.S. Lewis himself:

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to."

That is why I really liked THIS BLOG POST from Matt Walsh who distinguishes the difference between being "nice" and being Christlike. Ok, so Christ really was a nice man BUT he was more than that! He preached and lived much more than that, and we should do the same.

Signs of Spirituality

    As human beings there are natural questions that we have: Who am I? Where am I from? Where am I going? and countless others. Some of us try to fill our lives with work, appointments, events, and activities because when we slow down we begin to contemplate, once again, those questions which we don't have answers to. Others make (and take) the time to slow down and ponder how they came to be and of what influence they can be to the world around them.
    You don't have to be religious or believe in God to have morals, standards, or even some form of spirituality. Want to know whether or not you are a Spiritual person? There's an article here for you.Want to be spiritual and don't know how to begin? I recommend the same article, because what you get out of it depends on how you read it.

What is Link Upon Link?

"For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept;
line upon line, line upon line;
here a little, and there a little."
~Isaiah 28:10

     In the days of old the only spiritual resources were 1) the Bible and 2) the Church (aka - the clergy). Then came about the reformation and the translation of the Bible into the language of the common man. At this point men were allowed to read, learn, and interpret meaning from the scriptures on their own. Families split, wars broke out, flagrant persecution reigned, BUT the Gospel continued to spread. Like wildfire! Here dawned the era of personal revelation when God could speak to men as individuals through His written word.
    Fast forward a couple of millennia and you reach our day, the 21st Century. Nowadays there are endless resources on spirituality: The original KJV Bible, numerous adaptations and translations of it, side-by-side workbooks through religious sects, books written on how-to apply Biblical principles to your life, transcripts of speeches from religious leaders, and the relatively new christian Blog posts.
    Being a child of the new technological age, I sometimes* find it easier to type a religious topic into a search bar than to try and apply B.C. writings to 21st Century Sins. There is something about connecting with someone who has overcome your same brand of sin in the modern world. That's why I love today's technology!
    So, back to the purpose of my blog. I am an imperfect person in a fallen world trying to live in a way that will prepare me to live in a Celestial glory. Frankly, I need all the help I can get. Luckily, I love to study. I love searching for answers, and I realized it might be advantageous to share some with you. However, I'm not a cheater. If I'm trying to pass the test of life, you can't steal my answers. In fact, some of my answers will be different than yours and just as correct even though they may be different. So in this blog I plan to share with you the resources of where I find my answers. Sometimes I might share what I learned and why I find it important, but the real joy comes from the following question: "What does it mean for me?"
    You'll know you've found your own personal-revelation answer when the recognition of truth sparks a change in you. Such a change that you will want to act and live your life on a higher plane. That change may be easy, it may also be hard, but I can guarantee it will be worth it.
